FILM 2012: #39. Kids Return
Takeshi Kitano’s first film after his motor-scooter crash and it’s certainly one of his more low-key contemplative offerings - though his customary goofy humour and yakuza elements are never too far away - focused on two high school dropouts and how their lives gradually drift apart from one another. It’s sweet natured and worth watching if you want a slice of Kitano without too much grief, ultraviolence or wackiness.
